Gusty winds of up to 55 mph knock out power to thousands

Wind gusts topping 50 mph in parts of New Jersey have caused thousands of power outages across the state on Thursday.
As of 1:10 p.m., more than 14,000 homes and businesses are in the dark, according to the state’s major utility companies.
A wind advisory for all 21 counties runs until 10 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
Winds out of the west of 20-35 mph are expected to gust to 40-55 mph through the day Thursday, according to the weather service.
Friday is expected to be dry and not nearly as windy, but gusts of 20 to 30 mph will create challenges if crews are working to restore power.
